Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book yourrental:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Myrtle Beach 3-Bed Oceanfront Wyndham Seawatch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
