Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Resort 2BR with oceanfront views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
