Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Newly Renovated Oceanfront - Corner w\/ Wrap-Balcony! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
