Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. B527 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Charming Condo w\/ Full Kitchen & Indoor pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
