How to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Myrtle Beach Resort, Ocean View, 2 BR - 2 BA, Indoor\/Outdoor Pool, B-244 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
