Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Myrtlewood golf condo- end unit, spacious, balcony w\/ pool view, 7 min to beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
