Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtlewood golf condo- end unit, spacious, balcony w\/ pool view, 7 min to beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
