Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 1 Bedroom at a 57-acre Oceanfront Property + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
