Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 3 Bedroom on 1st Floor w\/ Full Kitchen, Snowbirds! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
