Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. ~Tipsy Turtle~ Beautiful house in Ocean Lakes Campground with golf cart! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
