Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly l 3 Min Walk to Beach l 9 Palms has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
