Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. New Coastal Home Steps from Beach w\/Pool has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
