Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Getting the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. OCEANFRONT!! NEW LISTING!-GONE COASTAL- Spacious DIRECT Oceanfront Condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
