How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Brighton 1803 Renovated w\/ spectacular ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
