How to book the best vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your family select date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful Two-Bedroom Resort with Amazing Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
