Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by having your group commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Breathtaking, Home Away From Home, Designed with Style, Wide open ocean views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
