How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- First and foremost, have your group select trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Newly added - Ocean Forest Plaza Condo 8th floor! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
