Vacation rental booking tips:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Newly added - Ocean Forest Plaza Condo 8th floor! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
