Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. NEWLY LISTED! GREAT LOCATION, 5 BED 3.5 BATH, GREAT OUTDOOR SPACE has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
