Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Big oceanfront 4 bedroom, 12th fl, large balcony has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
