Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Luxurious 1BR Retreat at Landmark Resort! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
