Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the bestrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Steps to the beach- 2Bd 2Bth Cottage- Pool -Off of Shore Drive has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
