Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Ocean 22, a Hilton property. Beach Front has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
