Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Dazzzling Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condo 6th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
