Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean 22, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club - 1 Bedroom Plus has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
