Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes Beach House - Lot 1049 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
