Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. OCEAN FRONT 2 BEDROOM 2 BATH has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
