Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Marriott's Ocean Watch Villas at Grande Dunes, South Carolina, 2 Bedroom Suite has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
