Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Front Corner Condo, Myrtle Beach, SC, A Place at the Beach, 2 BR\/ 2 Bath has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
