Strategies for getting the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book the bestrental home:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site 5308 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
