Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ocean Lakes - Site M 23 4BR\/3BA in walking distance to all amenities has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
