Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the rightrental:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes #1026 - 5BR:3BA in the Holiday Inn Section! Short walk to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
