Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site 5312 2BR\/2BA w\/ King bed! Covered front porch with swing has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
