Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the largest rental within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautiful 2 BD 2 Bath Beach House at Ocean Lakes Family Campground! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
