Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental:
- Start by having your group choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes Turtle Beach Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
