Rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. OCEAN VIEW - 7th Floor Landmark Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
