Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. OCEAN VIEW - 7th Floor Landmark Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
