Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean view condo. Step to the beach, pool & Ocean Annie's. No street to cross. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
