Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the best rental home:

  • Start by having your family commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean View Guest Room at Resort for Kids + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
