Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:
- First, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean View, Pool Side, Walk out to the Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
