Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean view steps from beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
