How to find the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Ocean View Suite at Family Friendly Resort + Onsite Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
