Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
