Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront - Private Balcony - Lazy River - Hot tubs - Heated Pools - Kitchen has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
