Booking the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 1 Bedroom Condo w\/ Gorgeous View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
