Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 1br Deluxe Condo on Shores of Myrtle Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
