Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. - Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
