How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the bestrental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom at 57 Acre Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
