Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom at 57 Acre Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
