Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Condo w\/ Gorgeous View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
