Strategies to get the best rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Condo, amazing views, breath taking sunrises and sunsets has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
