How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- To start, have your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront condo with amazing pools, hot tub, lazy river, & fitness room has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
