Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family choose dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront full condo waterpark\/bar\/restaurant has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
