Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront full condo waterpark\/bar\/restaurant has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
