Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. T1702: Oceanfront Haven: A Beachfront Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
