Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a budget:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. T1702: Oceanfront Haven: A Beachfront Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
