Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. On the Beach! Oceanfront Luxury 4 Bedroom in Margate Tower Panoramic Views! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
